System Engineer

Location: Eindhoven, the Netherlands (on-site, High Tech Campus) | Type: Full-time | Level: Senior, 10+ years of relevant experience

About us

AIM Solutions is an early-stage deep-tech startup in Eindhoven building inspection and metrology equipment for the semiconductor industry. We are in active build phase, small, and growing.

The role

You lead the system. You act as the system architect of our tool: you own how it works as a whole, make the trade-offs between subsystems, and make sure optics, mechanics, electronics and software come together as one machine. You take over a growing part of this role as the team and the product mature.

You will:

  • Own the system architecture and the key technical decisions

  • Translate performance goals into system and subsystem requirements, and keep them traceable

  • Make and maintain the system budgets, and decide where performance is won or lost

  • Define and guard the interfaces between subsystems

  • Steer the subsystem engineers: set priorities, run design reviews and resolve conflicts between disciplines

  • Set up verification and integration: test plans, acceptance criteria and evidence that the system does what it should

  • Carry the system from prototype toward a product, and shape our systems engineering way of working

Your profile

  • 10+ years of experience in high-tech equipment, with several years in a system engineering or system architect role

  • Experience leading the technical development of a complex system in semiconductor, lithography, metrology or scientific instruments

  • Strong in requirements engineering, system budgets and interface management

  • A broad technical base: you hold your own in discussions on optics, precision mechanics, control and software

  • This is not a role in a large organization with fixed processes: you help decide how we work. You thrive in a small, fast-moving team where roles are fluid and you are as likely to be at the lab bench as in a design review.

  • A clear communicator with engineers, management and partners

  • Full professional proficiency in English

Bonus:

  • Optical metrology or computational imaging

  • Taking a product from prototype to production, including SEMI standards and CE marking

  • Model-based systems engineering or modern requirements tools

  • Customer-facing work such as specification negotiation or tool acceptance

We care more about systems thinking and ownership than about a perfect match. If your title was different but you have led the technical side of a complex machine, apply anyway.

What we offer

  • Shared technical leadership of a tool that does not exist anywhere else yet

  • Small team, short feedback loops, real impact on the product

  • Competitive salary for the Dutch market
