Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it. We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world's leading financial institutions, like PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard, Interactive Brokers and Charles Schwab. About the team The Identity & Regulatory Platform team builds the trust layer behind every Paxos product. Before a financial institution or its end users can move a single asset on Paxos, they come through us: identity verification, KYC/KYB, sanctions and risk screening, and the onboarding and activation experience in the Paxos Dashboard and Identity APIs. We also build the AI-enabled tools Compliance uses to review applications and manage risk at scale. Our goal is to turn complex regulatory requirements into fast, automated product flows, so that compliance speeds growth up instead of slowing it down. About the role As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you'll build the AI-enabled trust layer that lets the world's largest financial institutions adopt blockchain safely. You'll own the customer journey from first contact through onboarding to activation. That means designing the systems that verify and onboard customers, using AI to automate compliance review, and measuring and improving every step of the funnel. You'll work directly with Product, Compliance and identity vendors, and your work will shape both how fast customers go live and how well Paxos meets its regulatory obligations. What you’ll do Own the customer journey from lead to onboarding to activation, across the Paxos Dashboard and Identity APIs Instrument the onboarding funnel, find drop-off and friction, and run experiments that cut time-to-activation Design, build and operate backend services for KYC/KYB, identity verification, screening and identity lifecycle Use AI to automate compliance work such as document review, case triage and risk assessment, replacing manual ops Own integrations with third-party identity and screening vendors, including async workflows and webhooks Build data-privacy capabilities (GDPR erasure, PII handling) into the platform from the start Write design docs, lead technical decisions, mentor teammates and take part in on-call About you 5+ years building production backend systems, with 1+ year at senior level Strong in Go, Java or Python (Go strongly preferred) Experience designing APIs and data models for sensitive or regulated data You think about outcomes such as conversion, activation and time-to-value, not only shipping features Comfortable turning ambiguous requirements from non-engineering stakeholders into clear technical plans Bonus: identity, KYC/AML or onboarding systems; growth engineering or experimentation; building LLM features into production; Persona or similar vendors You use AI tools daily to work faster and better Important Notice for Paxos Applicants Fraudulent accounts sometimes pose as Paxos recruiters on LinkedIn and other platforms, and fake websites sometimes impersonate our careers site. To verify a legitimate Paxos opportunity: Our only official careers site is paxos.com/careers We only use @paxos.com email addresses We never ask for payment or financial details to apply, interview, or work here For technical roles, we do not perform a coding interview without prior screening by our engineering team Thanks for your interest in Paxos!

About Paxos

Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.

We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world's leading financial institutions, like PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard, Interactive Brokers and Charles Schwab.

About the team

The Identity & Regulatory Platform team builds the trust layer behind every Paxos product.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you'll build the AI-enabled trust layer that lets the world's largest financial institutions adopt blockchain safely.

What you’ll do

  • Own the customer journey from lead to onboarding to activation, across the Paxos Dashboard and Identity APIs

  • Instrument the onboarding funnel, find drop-off and friction, and run experiments that cut time-to-activation

  • Design, build and operate backend services for KYC/KYB, identity verification, screening and identity lifecycle

  • Use AI to automate compliance work such as document review, case triage and risk assessment, replacing manual ops

  • Own integrations with third-party identity and screening vendors, including async workflows and webhooks

  • Build data-privacy capabilities (GDPR erasure, PII handling) into the platform from the start

  • Write design docs, lead technical decisions, mentor teammates and take part in on-call

About you

  • 5+ years building production backend systems, with 1+ year at senior level

  • Strong in Go, Java or Python (Go strongly preferred)

  • Experience designing APIs and data models for sensitive or regulated data

  • You think about outcomes such as conversion, activation and time-to-value, not only shipping features

  • Comfortable turning ambiguous requirements from non-engineering stakeholders into clear technical plans

  • Bonus: identity, KYC/AML or onboarding systems; growth engineering or experimentation; building LLM features into production; Persona or similar vendors

  • You use AI tools daily to work faster and better
