Key responsibilities

• Innovate and implement well established practices for Platform Engineering.

• Design resilient and easy to use foundational infrastructure to support a growing customer base.

• Using productivity tools, such as AI, implement effective quality code.

• Contribute to the strategy and design of engineering as a whole.

• Facilitate open discussions that bring together the right people to provide the right outcomes.

• Contribute to solution design early, helping prevent reliability problems before they ship.

• Provide technical leadership to a small team, setting standards and direction while coaching engineers across the organisation on reliability and performance practices.

Required skills & experience

• In depth knowledge of Kubernetes, Istio and ArgoCD.

• Understanding of network principles.

• AWS foundational knowledge.

• Golang, Python and Terraform.

• Strong familiarity with GitOps and CI/CD practices.

• Linux and Networking experience including troubleshooting.

What you bring as an engineer

• Strong platform development background. You've built and shipped production systems, not just observed them with a proficiency in Go/Python and Terraform.

• Experience defining and implementing AWS managed solutions, utilising our strategic partnership to ship quicker.

• A track record of working across codebases and domains you didn't build - diagnosing issues, contributing improvements and establishing patterns others can follow.

• Comfort operating with all manner of customers, treating all members of staff as builders.

• Experience with architecture and system design, particularly in SaaS environments operating at scale.

• An attitude to do better and push others to do better .

What you bring as a senior engineer

• You lead through influence, not authority. You build consensus quickly, find the

fastest path forward through ambiguity and help teams make good decisions

without creating bottlenecks.

• You simplify complexity. Whether it's explaining a cross-domain failure mode to leadership or designing a pattern that replaces ad-hoc solutions across teams, you make things clearer and easier for others.

• You multiply the people around you - through coaching, pairing, code review and creating tools and documentation that raise the bar for everyone.

• You think in terms of the customer experience and the business, not just the system.

• You understand why reliability matters, not just how to achieve it.

• You adapt your approach to what's needed - sometimes that's deep technical problem-solving, sometimes it's aligning stakeholders, sometimes it's mentoring a mid-level engineer through a tough project.

Nice to have

• Cloudflare or other CDN based technologies

• AI Automation

• Knowledge of web technologies (Http 1.1 and 2)

• Knowledge of gRPC

• Known architectural patterns such as Cell Based Architecture.

Success looks like

• Our platform architecture is robust, resilient and provides answers before they become problems.

• Reliability patterns and shared tooling are adopted as defaults, reducing the effort required for individual teams to build reliable features.

• Our platform shards at the data layer , allowing us to scale and contain our customers in smaller environments that carry less risk.

• Incidents and alerts are mitigated with ease, using automated tools and great observability standards.

• Implement a layer between development and platform, building out APIs to allow customers to use our infrastructure with relative ease.

Key stakeholders

• Product managers & group leads - partnering to determine what our external customers require and delivering a compliant, resilient system.

• Engineering teams across groups - the primary consumers of the platform group who interact with us on a daily basis.

• Observability team - Working alongside this team to facilitate a ready to use environment.

• Engineering and product leadership - providing a great foundational architecture that allows for their teams to build on top of with little to no friction.
