Engineering Lead, Payments

TL;DR: We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to build and scale Lovable’s payments infrastructure. You’ve built payment systems at scale before. You’ll shape the architecture, develop critical payment capabilities, and guide the team through the technical challenges of global growth.

What we’re looking for

• A proven track record of personally building and scaling production payments infrastructure, from architecture through implementation and ongoing operations.

• Deep experience with payment processing, recurring billing, provider integrations, and reconciliation.

• Excellent judgment in distributed systems, including financial correctness, idempotency, consistency, and failure recovery.

• Experience leading engineers through complex architectural decisions, migrations, and production incidents.

• An engineering leader with the technical depth and judgment to simplify complex systems and raise the quality of the team’s decisions.

What you’ll do

• Build critical systems. Design and implement payment flows, recurring billing, and provider integrations, taking projects from initial design through production.

• Set the technical direction. Guide architectural decisions, create and review code, and work closely with the team on the most challenging problems.

• Own reliability. Investigate production issues, improve observability, and strengthen how our systems handle failures, retries, and scale.

• Lead engineering delivery. Turn complex problems into clear plans, coach engineers, and take responsibility for shipping and operating high-quality systems.

• Connect engineering to business outcomes. Work with Payments, Product, Finance, and Operations to improve payment success, reduce losses, and support global growth.
