What is Kalshi?
Kalshi has defined a new category: prediction markets. Kalshi allows people to trade on the outcome of any events and turn any question about the future into a financial asset. Kalshi fought for years and legalized prediction markets in the US for the first time in history, is currently the fastest growing financial market in America, and has thousands of markets across politics, economics, financials, weather, tech, AI, culture and more.
We believe prediction markets have the potential to be the largest financial market because they turn anything into a financial position.
Our vision: well… build the largest financial market on the planet.
Our mission: bring more truth to the world through the power of markets.
Our culture is simple: we hire really talented people, work really hard, and enjoy the climb. We are looking for ambitious and exceptional people to join our (relatively small) team to help us build the next generation of financial markets.
Role Roadmap
Kalshi Inc. seeks a Software Engineer, Growth, in New York, NY to be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining user-facing systems and internal tools that enable customers to access, transact on, and manage positions within the company's online platform. Responsibilities include: build, scale, and maintain backend services and APIs that support growth, engagement, and core product functionality under production performance and reliability requirements. Own and operate notification and lifecycle engagement systems end-to-end, including service performance and scalability, notification APIs, delivery orchestration, and client-facing notification features. Design, develop, and operate data-driven systems supporting personalization, targeting, ranking, and user engagement for acquisition, activation, and retention use cases. Design and implement service APIs used by web and mobile clients and internal systems, including authentication/authorization, versioning, and backward-compatible integrations. Build and operate event-driven backend workflows using message queues or streaming platforms to process high-volume asynchronous work reliably and at scale. Support growth experimentation by implementing and integrating feature flags, A/B tests, and related instrumentation to measure and improve top-of-funnel and engagement outcomes. Collaborate with product management and frontend/mobile engineering to deliver features from concept through production release, including rollout, monitoring, and iteration. Translate ambiguous product and business requirements into technical specifications, system designs, and implementation plans for scalable, maintainable software. Work with relational and/or NoSQL datastores to model, store, and query data supporting high-volume product and engagement use cases, including schema design and query optimization. Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production systems for latency, throughput, correctness, and operational health (logging, metrics, alerting, and incident-driven improvements).
What we’re looking for:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, plus 5 years of progressively, more responsible software development work experience.
In addition, the employer requires demonstrated ability in the following:
Demonstrated ability developing, testing, and maintaining production software using modern programming languages such as Go (Golang), JavaScript, and Python, including writing efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code gained through at least 5 years of work experience.
Demonstrated ability designing, developing, and documenting service APIs (REST and/or RPC), including endpoint design, authentication/authorization, versioning, and integration across client-facing and internal systems gained through at least 5 years of work experience.
Demonstrated ability working with both relational and NoSQL database systems, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling for high-volume applications gained through at least 5 years of work experience.
Demonstrated ability building, scaling, and operating high-performance backend services and distributed systems supporting high request volumes and production reliability requirements gained through at least 5 years of work experience.
Demonstrated ability translating ambiguous or evolving product requirements into clear technical specifications and implementation plans gained through at least 5 years of work experience.
Demonstrated ability implementing and supporting feature flags, A/B testing, or experimentation frameworks to evaluate product changes and drive growth or engagement metrics gained through at least 5 years of work experience.
Our Culture
Meritocracy is at our core, and we value people who take ownership and figure (usually hard) things out. We dream big. We love our craft deeply and are proud of what we put out in the world. We are committed to our vision of building something big… but also useful: a product that brings more truth through the power of markets.
Kalshians are Kalshi’s most important asset: we pick Kalshians carefully, so we trust them fully on day 1.
Commitment to Equal Opportunity
Kalshi is committed to creating a culture of inclusion and belonging, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We believe it is our collective responsibility to uphold these values and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to join us in our mission. All qualified applicants will be treated with respect and receive equal consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, uniform service, veteran status, age, or any other protected characteristic per federal, state, or local law. If you are passionate about what you do and want to use your talents to support our mission and values, we’d love to hear from you.
