A note from Viraj

Hi there, I’m Viraj, co-founder at Finch.

We’re building the operational engine that powers the best consumer law firms in the country. Strategy & Operations sits at the center of that work: the team identifies our most important problems and opportunities, then builds and tests the workflows, playbooks, and systems that help us grow.

We’re looking for someone who can understand how work gets done, identify friction, and build better ways of operating for firms, clients, and our internal teams. You’ll partner with Product & Engineering, Growth, and Legal Ops.

A note on our open roles: We’re almost always looking for great people to join this team, so you may see several similar S&O postings. They share the same core profile and scope; each highlights different problems you could work on. Apply to whichever interests you most. You only need to apply once – all applications are reviewed together.

What you’ll do

You’ll need to move comfortably between strategy and execution, pairing analytical rigor with care for the legal operators doing the work.

  • Analyze workflows and operational patterns to identify bottlenecks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement across the business.

  • Design scalable processes, playbooks, and standards that clarify ownership, improve consistency, and support more predictable case outcomes.

  • Define interfaces and communication models that help firms assign work, clients understand what is happening, and internal teams execute effectively.

  • Partner with Product & Engineering to translate operational needs into tools, automations, and app experiences that support high-quality execution.

  • Develop metrics and visibility into performance so teams can spot operational risks, understand what is working, and measure progress.

  • Lead experiments and cross-functional implementation, moving from a proposed solution to a working process that people can use.

  • Test and refine those systems as case volumes grow, firm needs evolve, and new product capabilities come online, helping Finch scale without losing the human touch firms and clients depend on.

What will make you successful

You’ll likely thrive if you have

  • 2-5+ years of experience in a problem-solving role, such as consulting, BizOps, or strategy.

  • Experience building systems or teams from zero to one, including turning an ambiguous problem into something that works in practice.

  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills: you can understand a workflow, identify what matters, and define how to measure improvement.

  • The ability to zoom out to set direction and dive into the details to execute.

  • A working style grounded in urgency, ownership, and collaboration across functions.

  • A deep concern for client experience and operational excellence, with the empathy to understand the needs of attorneys, clients, and internal teams.

It’s a plus if you have

  • Experience improving complex workflows that involve customers, operating teams, and technology.

  • Experience partnering with product and engineering teams to build tools or automate operational work.

This role may not be for you if

  • You prefer a role where the roadmap, process, and success metrics are already defined.

  • You are looking for a narrow remit rather than meaningful ownership across a fast-moving team.

  • You prefer making recommendations to taking responsibility for implementing, testing, and improving them.

What happens next

We run a human, efficient process. That generally includes:

  1. Intro: An initial conversation about your background, motivation, and the role.

  2. Interview: A deeper conversation about how you solve ambiguous problems, build systems, and drive work across teams.

  3. Case Assignment: A practical exercise exploring your approach to an operational problem, from diagnosis and prioritization to implementation and measurement.

  4. Onsite: A visit to our NYC office to meet the team, explore the work together, and have lunch.
