About Finch
Our mission is to make justice radically more accessible to every American household.
We combine expert operators with purpose-built AI to automate the admin work of consumer law and put clients first by handling intake, claim opening, medical records, police reports, lien management, demands, and everything in between.
Since launching in April 2025, we’ve raised a $20M Series A backed by Sequoia, Redpoint, and the founders & CEOs of DoorDash, Ironclad, and Digits and are running pre-litigation for over 125 of the highest-volume personal injury firms across the country.

A note from Ben
Hey, I’m Ben, CTO at Finch. I’m hiring engineers who can (a) understand what needs to be built and why, (b) ship quality work fast, and (c) own the outcomes tied to measurable legal impact.
We have an exceptionally talented group of high-personality, collaborative engineers. Nothing matters more to me than keeping that true as we grow.
The three reasons engineers generally come to (and stay at) Finch are:
High ownership and freedom to build. We give you a problem-space and lots of room to shape the product solution.
Meaningful impact and a tight feedback loop. Your work supports real people through difficult moments in their life (i.e. personal injury cases), and you sit next to users.
Applied AI work and room to experiment. We are building at the cutting edge of legal AI application.
If this sounds exciting, please apply.
What you'll do
Legal work is full of repetitive tasks, paper-based bottlenecks, and data fragmentation. Your job will be to help us turn that chaos into clarity – using well-designed systems, AI, and thoughtful software. You’ll build fast, ship often, and partner closely with strategy & operations, product, and legal teammates.
Own major features end-to-end, from architecture decisions through production release. You’ll scale the foundational software for our legal team, build software and other attorney-facing surfaces, and help explore and build new products and services as we learn where technology can make legal help more accessible.
Build reliable, performant systems across our core workflows using Python/Django, React, and AWS.
Ship AI-powered functionality that turns legal complexity into clear, usable software for legal professionals and law firms.
Collaborate directly with our strategy & operations team – as well as our product, growth, and legal teams – to define what gets built and why.
Shape our engineering culture, standards, and practices. The habits we build today will become precedent for our team as we scale.
What will make you successful
This role is for technical team members who want ownership over outcomes - here's what we think that requires.
You’ll likely thrive if you have
2+ years of experience building reliable, secure software in production.
Strong product sense: you can lead discovery and prioritize what to build and why.
A track record of writing clean, testable, maintainable code, with attention to observability and performance.
The judgment to turn an ambiguous problem into useful software and take responsibility for the outcome.
A working style grounded in urgency, ownership, and care for the people using what you build.
Proficiency in Python and React, or a demonstrated ability to pick up new stacks quickly.
It’s a plus if you have
Experience with Django, AWS, or OpenAI APIs.
Experience at an early-stage startup where you helped establish engineering standards.
Familiarity with document processing or data-heavy workflows.
This role may not be for you if
You prefer a role where the roadmap, process, and success metrics are already defined.
You are looking for a narrow remit rather than meaningful ownership across a fast-moving team.
You’re looking for a remote-first role. We work together in our NYC office four days a week.
What happens next
We aim to run a human, efficient process. That generally includes:
Intro: An initial conversation about your background, motivation, and the role.
Technical interview: A practical, technical session with an engineer.
Onsite: A visit to our NYC office to interview, meet the team, and have lunch.
