You will apply advanced academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges through system modeling, simulation, hardware development, and experimental validation. We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong fundamentals in physical systems with practical experience or curiosity in applying machine learning and modern AI tools to accelerate engineering discovery and prototyping. This role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to early-stage technology initiatives, collaborate with external ecosystem partners, and gain exposure to the technical and commercial considerations that shape new semiconductor technologies and businesses. Responsibilites Develop or adapt models of DC-DC converters and related power systems using MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, PLECS, or similar tools. Analyze converter behavior across operating conditions, including efficiency, transient response, stability, and control performance. Support the evaluation of isolated and non-isolated converter topologies, power-stage components, and control approaches. Assist with circuit schematics, component selection, PCB design, and prototype development. Bring up, debug, and modify hardware; help identify electrical or thermal issues during testing. Plan and run lab measurements using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power analyzers, signal generators, and other instrumentation. Compare measured results with simulations, investigate discrepancies, and update models or design assumptions. Automate analysis or test-data processing, and document results for engineering reviews. Collaborate with systems engineers and cross-functional partners to turn technical questions into models, experiments, and prototype demonstrations. Required Skills and Qualifications Currently pursuing a master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or a related field. Solid understanding of electrical circuits, power electronics fundamentals, and feedback control. Experience with DC-DC converters through research, coursework, projects, or internships. Experience modeling or simulating electrical systems using MATLAB/Simulink or comparable tools. Familiarity with laboratory instruments and an interest in hands-on hardware testing and debugging. Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills. Preferred Skills and Qualifications Experience designing, modeling, building, or testing DC-DC converters or switching power supplies. Familiarity with converter topologies, component selection, control-loop behavior, and efficiency or thermal considerations. Experience with PCB design, prototype bring-up, and hardware debugging. FPGA experience, such as developing or testing digital control logic using Verilog or VHDL. Python skills for automating simulations or tests, analyzing data, or plotting results. Familiarity with motor drives, embedded systems, or real-time control. Join our team and help drive the next wave of technologies that extend the capabilities of Cirrus Logic. If you're passionate about exploring uncharted technological frontiers, we’d love to hear from you! Cirrus Logic is a leading supplier of low-power, high-precision mixed-signal processing solutions for mobile and consumer applications. The company has a robust portfolio of sophisticated low-power products including boosted amplifiers, smart codecs, camera controllers, haptic driver and sensing solutions, power conversion and control ICs, and fast-charging ICs. These solutions have innovative technology, software and associated algorithms incorporated. With a strong intellectual property portfolio and extensive mixed-signal expertise, Cirrus Logic is well-positioned to drive innovation and growth in the evolving markets for audio and high-performance mixed-signal processing technologies. Cirrus Logic strives to select the best qualified applicant for any opening. Different approaches, ideas and points of view are both valued and respected. Employment decisions are made on the basis of job-related criteria without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status, genetic information, or any other classification protected by applicable law.  #LI-CC1 #LI-Hybrid Cirrus Logic follows a 2+ day in-office work schedule but interns should expect to be in the office more often, up to 5 days per week, based on business needs and team preference. Interns must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning their internship with Cirrus Logic. Export control restrictions based upon applicable laws and regulations would prohibit candidates who are nationals of certain embargoed countries from working in this position without Cirrus Logic first obtaining an export license.  Candidates for this role must be able to access technical data without a requirement for an export license. We are unable to sponsor or obtain export licenses for this role. Cirrus Logic strives to select the best qualified applicant for any opening.
