About Aphex
We're the construction coordination platform replacing outdated spreadsheets with multiplayer tools that delivery teams love. Major contractors use Aphex to deliver projects ranging from $50 million to multi-billion-dollar mega projects. Since launching in 2019, we've become the market-leading solution in the UK and Australia, and we're now expanding into North America, Europe and Asia.
We're tackling an industry that drives 10% of global GDP yet has seen productivity decline for 20 years. It's time for change.
The role
In Business Ops, we make the business run better, so every team can do its best work. We build solutions that scale, communicate in ways that land, and own what we touch. We're a small team of ambitious people who care about doing the work well, and this role is a big part of how we raise the bar.
Business Ops sits at the centre of how Aphex works. One week that might mean getting a new starter set up in a country we've never hired in before. The next, it could be rolling out a benefit across four countries, helping a team member relocate to a new entity, preparing for an ISO audit, or deciding whether a tool we rely on is still the right one. No two weeks look the same, and very little of it comes with a manual.
You'll be handed outcomes, not task lists. From day one, you'll be trusted to take something on, work out what good looks like, and drive it to the finish. That means pulling in the right people, making the calls you're able to make, and keeping everyone in the loop along the way. You'll have context, support and someone to think things through with.
AI is part of how we work at Aphex. We expect everyone to use it to think, write, plan and analyse better. And we challenge the status quo by default, so you'll be expected to propose better ways of working and make them real, not wait for someone to ask.
What you'll do
Run onboarding and off-boarding end to end. Make sure every new starter is ready on day one, and every leaver is closed out properly, across every country we operate in.
Bring people with you. Work with teams across the UK, Australia, Canada and Asia to get them on board with new processes and projects, from gathering input at the start to making sure changes actually stick.
Make answers easy to find. Keep policies, benefits and how-tos clear and accessible, so the team can help themselves.
Keep our tools in check. Know what we use, who owns it, what it costs, and whether it's still earning its place.
Keep us audit-ready. Support our ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and SOC 2 work as an everyday habit, not a pre-audit scramble.
Take on the one-offs. Relocations, new entities, insurance and the projects that come with growth.
Help the team feel like one team. Shape our monthly internal newsletter, contribute to offsites, and look after the internal comms that connect a remote company.
Spot what isn't working and fix it. Process gaps, missing resources, awkward workflows. Then capture what you changed so the whole team works from the same playbook.
The team you'll join
You'll work closely with our Ops Manager and alongside teams across the UK, Australia, Canada and Asia.
Why this matters
As Aphex grows into new markets, the way we operate has to grow with it. Every process you improve means less friction for a team spread across four continents, and more time for them to focus on helping the world's biggest contractors deliver better projects.
About you
We care more about how you work than where you've worked. If you've got the work ethic and the core skills to grow into this role, we want to hear from you, even if your experience doesn't look like a typical ops CV.
What we're looking for:
Captaincy. When something's yours, you carry it to the result, not just to "done". When something has no owner, you pick it up and let people know. When the work needs others, you pull them in: come with me, not can someone help me.
Proactiveness. You look past the task in front of you to what's next and what's at risk. You notice friction everywhere, in a process, a tool, or the way something's always been done, and you can't help asking whether there's a better way. When you bring a problem, you bring your recommendation too, even if you're not sure it's right.
Momentum. You keep several things moving at once, and nothing quietly stalls. People always know where your work stands, so nobody has to chase you for an update.
Craft. You know what good looks like before you start, and you hold yourself to it. Your work, and the way you write about it, is clear enough that it doesn't need translating. That matters when most of the team is in a different timezone from you.
Reflection. When something doesn't land, you look at it honestly: what happened, what was yours, what you'd do differently. Then you act on it.
Nice to have:
Exposure to tools like Notion, Google Workspace, Slack or HR systems
Experience in a startup, SaaS or fast-moving environment
Interest in people operations, IT or compliance (no deep knowledge needed)
Benefits
One annual international team offsite (we've been to Vietnam and Thailand. Where to next?)
Annual training allowance and access to our Emerging Leaders program
MindFi EAP access
The right tools: MacBook Pro setup, modern tech stack and AI tooling across the team
A team that takes the work seriously: collaborative, ambitious people who care about doing the work well
