The Community You Will Join:

The CRM Engineering team builds world-class tools that drive growth and foster meaningful  relationships between Airbnb and its community, including Hosts, Guests, Law Enforcement, Government Regulators, Local Community Leaders, and more. This team tackles some of the most challenging and unique problems faced by our business. Here are a few examples:

• Growth Platform: Designed to increase supply and retain existing hosts.
• Policy Platform: Enables Airbnb to engage with regulatory bodies across the globe regarding short-term rental regulations. This platform tracks regulations that impact the Airbnb business and provides intelligence to address unique business challenges.
• Community Platform: Establishes a social platform to drive community enablement, collaboration, and success.
• Agent Tools: Empowers agents to understand and resolve issues that customers are unable to address on their own.
• Aircover Claims Platform: Facilitates the processing of claims for Aircover insurance products, offering protection to both hosts and guests.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and craftsmanship while building scalable, reliable, and impactful systems that drive Airbnb’s growth. Our team is building an AI-driven growth platform to power Airbnb’s supply expansion by leveraging AI-driven intelligence to generate sales insights, address diverse supply needs, empower existing hosts to succeed, and attract high-quality hosts to the platform.

You will partner closely with product, data science, design, business, and other cross-functional teams to define the team’s long-term technical vision, strategy, and roadmap. You will represent your team with global leadership, drive operational excellence, and guide the development of innovative AI-powered solutions that address complex business challenges. This is a highly visible opportunity to combine technical leadership, people development, and strategic thinking to shape the future of Airbnb’s supply growth platform and make a lasting impact on the company’s growth trajectory.

A Typical Day:

• Technical Leadership: Define and execute the technical strategy for trust and safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with Airbnb’s long-term goals.
• Team Management: Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team. Foster a culture of innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and partner engineering teams to develop effective, scalable solutions.
• Project Oversight: Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring high-quality delivery across the software development lifecycle.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Provide clear communication of project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and partners.
• Operational Excellence: Champion best practices for reliability, scalability, and incident response. Maintain operational readiness for critical systems.
• Industry Awareness: Stay current on trends in Trust & Safety, and drive adoption of best practices and innovations within the team.
• Global Alignment: Work with global counterparts to ensure the India team’s initiatives are aligned with broader Trust & Safety goals.

Your Expertise:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Overall 10+ years of industry experience, including 2–5+ years in engineering management.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale, secure, and reliable systems.
• Strong experience in leading technical strategy and building scalable engineering, data, or machine learning systems.
• Expertise in leading AI/ML teams and delivering AI-powered solutions is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in at least one major language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Ruby).
• Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top-tier engineering talent.
• Excellent communicator - capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience setting multi-year strategies and aligning diverse stakeholders.
• Background working in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for trust, safety, and driving positive social impact.
• Strong commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within teams.
