About the Company
Our client is a growing custom home builder based in Minnesota, specializing in residential construction projects across the Midwest. With a lean and collaborative team, the company focuses on delivering high-quality custom homes while maintaining strong project oversight, operational efficiency, and attention to detail.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in residential construction to oversee multiple custom home projects from initial planning through completion.
In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Construction, Design Manager, and sales and estimating teams to ensure projects stay on track, within budget, and aligned with established timelines and scopes of work.
The ideal candidate has hands-on construction knowledge, strong organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate both office operations and field activities. You should be comfortable managing multiple projects, communicating with different stakeholders, and maintaining accountability in a remote work environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee residential construction projects from scope development through completion.
Develop and coordinate project scopes of work in collaboration with field leadership and design teams.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, costs, and performance metrics to ensure projects remain on track.
Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field crews to maintain smooth project execution.
Work closely with the Director of Construction, Design Manager, and sales and estimating teams.
Manage requests for quotations (RFQs), permits, project documentation, and other administrative requirements.
Coordinate materials management and ensure resources are available when needed.
Track project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and proactively implement solutions.
Maintain clear communication across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring quality, timelines, and operational standards are met.
Requirements
8+ years of project management experience, preferably in residential or custom home construction.
Strong understanding of residential construction processes, terminology, and workflows.
Experience managing teams or coordinating multiple stakeholders within a structured project management environment.
Background in civil engineering, construction management, building trades, or a related field is strongly preferred.
Experience overseeing construction schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and project execution.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a distributed team.
Comfortable working full-time (40 hours per week) during U.S. Central Time hours.
Nice to Have
Hands-on experience working on construction sites or in the building trades.
Previous experience with custom home builds, single-family residential construction, or multifamily projects.
Experience managing construction or estimating teams.
Familiarity with architectural drawings, design processes, and construction planning.
Experience using Buildertrend or other residential construction project management software.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new project management tools and systems.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Project Manager who understands both the operational and practical sides of residential construction.
The ideal candidate can bridge the gap between office management and field operations, communicate effectively with different teams, and take ownership of project schedules, budgets, and overall execution.
If you have a strong construction background and enjoy working in a collaborative, growing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
