Addepar unifies portfolio, market and client data in a total portfolio view and delivers AI-powered insights within investment and client workflows. More than 1,500 firms in 60 countries use Addepar to manage and advise on nearly $10 trillion in assets. Its open platform integrates with 650 software, data and consulting partners to power end-to-end investment operations across firms of all sizes and levels of complexity. Addepar supports clients worldwide with offices in New York City, Salt Lake City, São Paulo, London, Edinburgh, Geneva, Warsaw, Dubai, Pune and Singapore.
The Role
As a Field Engineer, Team Lead you will serve as a player-coach — guiding a team of field engineers while personally executing the most complex, mission-critical technical work yourself. Operating at the intersection of engineering and client success, you are both the technical anchor for your team and Addepar's technical vanguard in the field, translating complex business requirements into production-grade integrations, automations, and data solutions.
You will be the technical expert across Addepar's full solution suite — from API integrations and automation frameworks to advanced data platforms (including our white-labeled Databricks offering, ADX) and AI-driven tooling. At the same time, you will develop your people-management skills: providing daily guidance, coordinating work allocation, and turning the vision set by leadership into reality while keeping your team aligned to our core processes. This role combines a forward-deployed delivery model with hands-on technical depth and functional leadership of a high-performing engineering team.
Applicants must have legal authorization to work in the country where this role is based on the first day of employment. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Important Note: This role will require you to work from Pune office 3 days a week in UK shift i.e. 2:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST. (hybrid role)
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a player-coach: provide functional leadership and daily operational guidance to a team of field engineers while remaining a hands-on technical contributor on the most complex engagements
- Architect, build, and deliver custom integrations, automations, and data pipelines using Addepar's APIs, ADX (Databricks), and modern engineering tools
- Manage the team's work allocation and coordinate activities across simultaneous client engagements, ensuring results are delivered on schedule and in collaboration with cross-functional partners
- Guide the team through issue resolution, proactively escalate blockers, and maintain alignment with client and internal stakeholders
- Design and implement production-grade solutions that dramatically improve client onboarding efficiency, reduce time-to-value, and enable operational scale
- Build intelligent automation leveraging AI, LLMs, and machine learning to solve complex data transformation, validation, and reconciliation challenges
- Serve as the technical owner for ADX implementations, designing robust data infrastructure within Databricks to streamline client data onboarding and analytics
- Write and review production-quality Python code for ETL pipelines, API integrations, data validation frameworks, and automation tooling
- Translate ambiguous client requirements into flexible, scalable technical solutions through deep discovery, prototyping, and iterative delivery
- Support career development by providing continuous feedback loops on technical and project execution, mentoring engineers as they grow
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve tools, workflows, and automation for greater team efficiency, and develop internal frameworks and best practices that accelerate delivery
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Services teams to identify opportunities for productization and influence the platform roadmap
- Act as a technical advisor and trusted partner to clients, proactively identifying opportunities to drive additional value
Who You Are
- Experience: Minimum 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or forward-deployed technical roles, with demonstrated experience guiding, mentoring, or leading other engineers
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Python with experience building production-grade applications, APIs, and data pipelines; strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication patterns, and integration architecture
- Data Platforms: Hands-on experience with Databricks, Spark, and distributed data processing frameworks; proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale datasets across relational and NoSQL databases
- Pipelines & Automation: Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines for complex data transformations; familiarity with AI/ML tools and experience implementing LLM-driven automation solutions
- Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial data domains including portfolio management, performance analytics, and multi-asset class portfolios
- Engineering Practices: Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices
- Leadership: A solutions-driven, player-coach mindset — able to balance hands-on delivery with coordinating a team, providing feedback, and a commitment to growing your people-management skills
- Communication: Outstanding communication skills with the ability to conduct technical presentations and translate complex concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Organization: Highly organized with attention to detail, able to prioritize and context-switch across simultaneous client engagements and deliver results that may impact schedules and costs
- Mindset: Independent, adaptable, and entrepreneurial with a strong work ethic, a bias for action, and a passion for client impact; thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments while maintaining high-quality standards
