Aldinger, an Accredited Labs company, is looking for a metrologist who is ready to lead. If you’ve built your career in measurement science and have led technicians, supervised a lab, or run a quality system, this role puts both skills to work. You’ll run a high-performing, ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration lab. You’ll have real ownership of technical quality, team development, and customer outcomes.
This position is based at our Dallas, Texas lab. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
The Role as Calibration Service Manager, you’ll lead a team of Calibration Technicians and Assistant Service Managers and own the lab’s day-to-day operation. You’ll be the technical authority on the floor and the business leader in the room, keeping measurement quality, turnaround, and customer trust at a high standard.
What You’ll Do:
- Direct daily lab operations: prioritize workflow, schedule staff, and balance throughput against measurement quality.
- Serve as the lab’s technical authority. Review calibration methods, procedures, and results, and support uncertainty budgets, traceability, and measurement assurance practices.
- Make sure technicians are trained, competency-assessed, and consistently delivering accurate calibrations and repairs under corporate quality requirements and accreditation standards.
- Keep the lab audit-ready by supporting ISO/IEC 17025 compliance, assessments, nonconformance handling, and corrective and preventive actions.
- Work with Sales and the Branch Manager to grow the business: pricing standards, cost justification (ROI), new service capabilities, and training needs.
- Build and manage budgets and continuous improvement plans that raise lab performance.
- Act as the primary technical contact for customers. Explain results, resolve questions, and build long-term relationships.
- Partner with corporate on recruiting, training, workload planning, performance reviews, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and accountable work environment.
What You Bring:
- Background in metrology or calibration with a solid grounding across multiple disciplines (for example electrical, dimensional, pressure, temperature, mass, or torque).
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in the calibration industry (lead, supervisor, assistant manager, or lab manager).
- Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1, ISO 9000, and ISO 16949, and experience supporting accreditation assessments.
- Strong grasp of calibration policies, procedures, and methodologies, including measurement uncertainty and metrological traceability.
- Proven ability to lead a team, develop technicians, and manage competing priorities.
- Intermediate skills reading and managing internal income statements.
- Advanced quantitative and analytical skills with PC proficiency.
- Excellent written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with a customer-first mindset.
- Initiative, integrity, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage projects under pressure.
- Flexibility in schedule to support the business.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a multi-site or national calibration network
- Familiarity with lab management or ERP software
- Business development or revenue growth experience in technical services
